Palomba General Trading LLC is looking for a Process Scale-Up & Pilot Trials Engineer - Mixing & Powder Systems to support technically demanding industrial projects across the GCC.

THIS IS A HIGHLY TECHNICAL ENGINEERING POSITION. IT IS NOT A GENERAL SALES OR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ROLE.

We are specifically seeking candidates with practical experience in pilot trials, process development, industrial scale-up, mixing, powder processing or the transition of manufacturing processes from laboratory or pilot scale to commercial production.

The successful candidate will work with industrial customers, application engineers and international equipment manufacturers to define trial conditions, interpret test results and translate process requirements into technically sound industrial-scale projects.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬

• Define technical objectives for laboratory, pilot and industrial equipment trials.

• Collect and structure customer process data before testing.

• Review material characteristics including particle size, bulk density, viscosity, moisture, oil content and flow behaviour.

• Assist in defining trial protocols for mixing, blending, homogenisation, milling and powder-processing applications.

• Identify critical process parameters that must be reproduced during scale-up.

• Support selection of suitable pilot equipment and test conditions.

• Coordinate sample preparation and customer trial requirements.

• Monitor technical results during pilot testing.

• Analyse process variables such as mixing time, speed, shear, filling level, temperature and throughput.

• Evaluate blend uniformity and process repeatability.

• Support interpretation of particle-size and powder-processing results.

• Assist in evaluating liquid addition and dispersion performance.

• Identify potential scale-up risks before industrial equipment selection.

• Compare laboratory or pilot results against target industrial performance.

• Support engineering teams in translating trial data into production-scale requirements.

• Coordinate technical discussions between customers, application specialists and equipment manufacturers.

• Support scale-up from batch trials to continuous or larger-scale processing where applicable.

• Participate in technical reviews before quotation and equipment selection.

• Prepare structured technical trial reports and recommendations.

We are looking for a strongly technical and analytical candidate who understands that successful scale-up requires more than simply increasing equipment size.

The ideal candidate should understand how changes in geometry, speed, energy input, material behaviour, batch size and process conditions can affect product quality and industrial performance.

Candidates should be comfortable working with real process data, conducting or supporting technical trials and communicating findings to both customers and engineering teams.

Candidates whose experience is predominantly general sales or non-technical business development are unlikely to be suitable.

𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬

Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.

Minimum 3 years of relevant industrial, application or process-development experience preferred.

Experience with pilot plants, laboratory-to-production scale-up, process trials or industrial equipment testing is strongly preferred.

Practical understanding of mixing, blending, powder processing or related unit operations.

Ability to interpret process data and technical test results.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to understand equipment specifications and process documentation.

Excellent written and spoken English.
