Role Description This is a full-time, on-site HDD Operator/Locator role based in Dammam. The HDD Operator/Locator will operate horizontal directional drilling rigs and associated equipment, ensuring safe and accurate installation of underground pipelines and conduits for various utilities. Day-to-day tasks include setting up drilling equipment, reading and interpreting plans and utility maps, monitoring drilling parameters, and using locating systems to track and steer the drilling head. The role involves coordinating with site supervisors and crew members, adhering to safety and environmental standards, performing routine equipment inspections, and assisting with troubleshooting and basic maintenance. The HDD Operator/Locator will also document work activities, support quality control, and comply with company procedures and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in operating HDD rigs and locating systems, including setup, steering, and tracking of the drill head.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, utility maps, and job specifications for trenchless installations.
• Strong understanding of safety practices, risk assessment, and compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Experience with basic mechanical troubleshooting, routine maintenance of drilling equipment, and safe use of tools.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with site supervisors, engineers, and field crews.
• Prior experience in trenchless construction, HDD, or related oil, gas, power, water, or telecom projects is highly beneficial.
• Ability to work in outdoor construction environments, including flexibility for extended hours and varying site conditions.
• Relevant vocational training or technical certification in drilling operations or construction trades; valid driver’s license preferred.
