Head of Civil Engineering (Civil & Structural) | Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Our client is a leading global EPC major in power transmission and distribution, with projects across India, the Middle East, CIS and other markets. They are hiring a Head of Civil Engineering (Civil & Structural) to lead engineering design for substation and power distribution projects from Riyadh.

This is a hands-on engineering leadership role. You will own civil and structural design delivery across multiple projects and geographies, and be the technical authority for your team, clients and consultants.

What you will do

• Own complete civil and structural engineering and detailed design for substation and power distribution projects, in India and internationally
• Lead a team of Project Engineering Managers, Lead Engineers, Design Engineers and Draughtspersons
• Manage client-approved engineering sub-consultants, ensuring timely delivery, quality and optimised quantities
• Provide tender engineering support with competitive, optimised solutions and clear risk mitigation
• Deliver base design, detailed engineering and drawing submissions on schedule, aligned to site construction sequence
• Support Contracts (pre-bid queries) and site execution teams on feasibility and design issues
• Coordinate with electrical, MEP and instrumentation disciplines, and with engineering heads across geographies
• Drive standardisation, modularisation and automation, including the use of AI, to improve design productivity
• Build rapport with client and owner’s-consultant decision makers to keep engineering delivery smooth

What we are looking for

• B.E./B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering; postgraduate degree in Structural or Geotechnical Engineering preferred
• 20+ years of experience, with extensive civil and structural design exposure on substations and industrial plants, both indoor and outdoor
• Proven experience on indoor GIS and outdoor substations up to 400 kV, covering steel structures, RCC structures, levelling and grading, and geotechnical aspects
• Strong command of international codes: BS EN, ASCE, Eurocodes and Indian codes
• Working knowledge of precast design and installation, and of construction methodologies
• Proficiency in STAAD, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit and Tekla
• Prior Middle East or KSA experience, and familiarity with international client engineering practices, is a strong advantage
• A track record of leading multicultural teams, managing outsourced design, and engaging clients at senior levels
