Description
Tuwaiq Casting & Forging is seeking an experienced and technically rigorous Senior QC Engineer - Machining to join the Quality Control Division. Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, this role is responsible for planning, managing, and verifying product quality throughout all stages of the machining process. The Senior Engineer ensures that products comply with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and applicable international standards through effective inspection, process control, traceability, calibration management, and timely resolution of quality issues.
Key Responsibilities
Process Inspection & Product Verification
- Execute incoming, in-process, and final inspections of machined components
- Ensure full compliance with engineering drawings, tolerances, specifications, and customer requirements
- Conduct mandatory first-piece, in-process, and final inspections prior to product release
- Monitor machining operations to ensure adherence to approved process parameters
- Enforce proper identification, segregation, and status control of conforming and non-conforming products.
Measurement Systems & Calibration Control
- Ensure all measuring and inspection equipment is calibrated, verified, and traceable to national and international standards
- Manage calibration of equipment including CMM, gauges, micrometers, calipers, and precision instruments
- Maintain strict control of calibration records, status labelling, and recall systems
- Immediately remove and report any out-of-calibration equipment from service.
Quality Compliance & Traceability
- Ensure quality compliance with API Spec Q1, API 20A, API 20B, ISO 9001, and applicable international standards within the machine shop
- Enforce complete product identification, traceability, preservation, storage, and handling requirements
- Verify all inspection records, travellers, and documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI), qualification processes, and customer inspection requirements.
Non-Conformance Control & Improvement
- Lead and enforce Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for all quality issues
- Issue, manage, and close NCRs, CAPAs, and corrective actions in a timely manner
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and prevent recurrence
- Analyse rejection trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Documentation, Audits & Technical Support
- Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports, quality records, and release documentation
- Ensure all documentation complies with API Spec Q1 and ISO 9001 requirements
- Support internal, external, and API audits with full readiness
- Provide technical guidance and training to QC staff and production teams
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues effectively.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Quality Control within the casting, forging, or heavy machining industry
- Hands-on experience in dimensional inspection, visual inspection, and testing of machined components, including CMM inspection
- Experience in customer inspections and handling third-party and client inspectors.
Certifications & Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, CNC machining operations, machining process sheets, and manufacturing drawings
- Proficiency in GD&T, engineering drawings, tolerances, fits, and precision measurement techniques
- Knowledge of API Spec Q1, API 20A, API 20B, ISO 9001:2015, and customer-specific quality requirements
- Knowledge of product identification, traceability, inspection records, NCR, CAPA, and documentation control
- Familiarity with ASME, ASTM, ISO, and customer inspection specifications.
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with CMM, gauges, micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments
- Ability to read and interpret machining process sheets, CNC programmes, engineering drawings, and inspection plans
- Strong knowledge of machining operations, machining defects, dimensional acceptance criteria, and surface finish requirements
- Experience in preparing inspection reports, FAI reports, dimensional reports, and ERP/MES quality documentation
- Ability to conduct in-process, final, and customer witness inspections.
