We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead and support mechanical engineering activities across the design, development, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment. The role is responsible for developing practical engineering solutions, reviewing technical designs, coordinating multidisciplinary activities, and ensuring projects meet required standards for performance, quality, safety, cost, and schedule.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work closely with engineering, project management, procurement, manufacturing, construction, operations, maintenance, suppliers, contractors, and clients to deliver reliable and efficient mechanical solutions. The role may also provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and junior team members.

• Lead and support the design, development, installation, testing, commissioning, and improvement of mechanical systems, equipment, machinery, components, and assemblies.
• Develop and review engineering calculations, technical specifications, drawings, layouts, equipment schedules, design documents, and technical reports.
• Analyse mechanical systems and components to ensure structural integrity, reliability, performance, efficiency, maintainability, and suitability for intended applications.
• Select appropriate materials, components, equipment, manufacturing methods, and engineering solutions based on technical, operational, environmental, and commercial requirements.
• Perform or review engineering calculations relating to loads, stresses, thermal performance, fluid flow, pressure, power requirements, tolerances, and equipment capacity where applicable.
• Use relevant engineering software and tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, ANSYS, MATLAB, or other discipline-specific platforms.
• Review technical designs and provide recommendations to improve functionality, reliability, manufacturability, safety, and cost efficiency.
• Coordinate mechanical engineering activities with electrical, civil, structural, process, instrumentation, architectural, and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Work with project managers to define technical requirements, project deliverables, schedules, resources, risks, and engineering milestones.
• Prepare technical specifications and support procurement teams in evaluating mechanical equipment, components, suppliers, and contractors.
• Review supplier drawings, technical submissions, quotations, datasheets, calculations, method statements, and equipment documentation.
• Participate in factory inspections, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), site inspections, installation reviews, commissioning activities, and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) where required.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance activities.
• Investigate equipment failures, mechanical problems, performance issues, and recurring defects and conduct root cause analysis to identify corrective actions.
• Develop or review preventive maintenance, reliability improvement, equipment optimisation, and engineering modification proposals.
• Monitor project progress and ensure mechanical deliverables are completed according to approved specifications, quality requirements, schedules, and budgets.
• Review engineering changes, technical deviations, non-conformances, and design modifications and assess their impact on safety, performance, cost, and schedule.
• Ensure mechanical designs and engineering activities comply with relevant industry standards, codes, regulations, company procedures, and health and safety requirements.
• Conduct technical risk assessments and identify potential engineering, operational, installation, maintenance, and safety risks.
• Coordinate with contractors and site teams to resolve technical issues and ensure mechanical works are executed according to approved designs and specifications.
• Monitor installation quality and verify that equipment, systems, materials, and workmanship meet engineering requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, progress updates, inspection records, commissioning documentation, engineering calculations, and project close-out documentation.
• Support budgeting, cost estimation, value engineering, equipment selection, and cost optimisation initiatives.
• Maintain accurate engineering records, drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment documentation, and revision histories.
• Communicate technical requirements and engineering recommendations clearly to clients, management, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.
• Stay updated on mechanical engineering technologies, equipment developments, materials, industry standards, energy efficiency, automation, and engineering best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve mechanical system performance, reliability, energy efficiency, maintainability, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to junior engineers and engineering team members.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of engineering standards, procedures, templates, and best practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in mechanical engineering, equipment design, project engineering, manufacturing, construction, facilities, industrial systems, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, equipment, systems, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering practices.
• Experience with engineering drawings, technical specifications, calculations, equipment selection, and design documentation.
• Proficiency in relevant CAD, engineering analysis, modelling, or simulation software.
• Strong understanding of engineering standards, codes, quality requirements, and health and safety practices.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, and project stakeholders.
• Strong technical problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to evaluate technical proposals, supplier documentation, equipment specifications, and engineering solutions.
• Good understanding of project management principles, cost control, scheduling, risk management, and change control.
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple engineering activities and priorities.
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a practical and solutions-oriented approach.
• Ability to work independently while providing technical leadership and guidance to junior engineering staff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Professional engineering registration, chartered status, or relevant technical certification will be an advantage.
• Experience with industrial equipment, HVAC, MEP systems, manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, construction, automotive, or other specialised mechanical environments will be an advantage.
