Summary

Performs and acts in a lead capacity for a specialized subsection/unit function of a laboratory section.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Organizes workflow and day-to-day operations of thesubsection. Ensures all work to be completed and reported promptly. Assignsstaff to maximize efficiency and productivity.
2. Disseminates appropriate information to subordinates.Maintains the computerized Laboratory Information Systems for the subsection.
3. Ensures that optimum levels of supplies are available toprovide uninterrupted services; maintains an ordering and supply inventorysystem.
4. Assists in development of new methodologies and the evaluationof new equipment. Updates policy and procedure manuals in accordance withspecified guidelines.
5. Performs analyses, tests, and procedures as perestablished laboratory standards, maintaining quality control of thesubsection. Participates in the Quality Assurance programs of the section.Investigates incident reports and implements associated corrective action.
6. Maintains equipment repair logs and equipment operation,maintenance, and re air records of subsection.
7. Assists section supervisor in on-going employeeperformance appraisal. Counsels subordinates to improve performance.
8. Orients, trains, provides continuing education, andguides lower graded personnel, other laboratory and healthcare personnel,students, and residents. Assists the section supervisor in evaluation ofpotential employment candidates. Implements and maintains appropriatelaboratory safety procedures and practices.
9. Performs technical duties as assigned including weekends,night shifts, and on call coverage.
10. Comply with the section policies, procedures andprotocols and follow the section quality improvement program in accordance withCBAHI, JCI, CAP, SFDA and other accreditation agencies standards.
11. Follows all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures.
12. Participates in self and others' education, training anddevelopment, as applicable.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

Master's or Bachelor'sDegree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences is required

Experience Required

Grade 09:

Norelated experience with Master's or one (1) year with Bachelor’s Degree isrequired.

Grade 10:

Three (3) years ofrelated experience with Master’s, or four (4) years with Bachelor’s Degree is required

Other Requirements(Certificates)

• Current Registration fromcountry of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) isrequired.
• Registration in National Certification Agency, ClinicalSpecial Cytogenetics/American Society of Clinical Pathologists, ClinicalSpecial Cytogenetics for American, registered Medical Technologist for Europeor Australian Institute of Medical Lab Science, Fellow Institute of Medical LabSciences for British or Australian Institute of Medical Sciences for Australianor Medical Lab Science for New Zealander, or registered as Medical Technologistin country of origin is required for non-Saudi.
