Job Purpose

The position ensures that maintenance activities, spare-parts procurement, inventory consumption, repair costs, and contractor expenses remain within approved budgets while maintaining adequate spare-parts availability to support plant reliability and production continuity.

The role works closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, Stores/Warehouse, Production, and Finance teams to improve cost visibility, inventory efficiency, and maintenance cost performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintenance Cost Control

• Monitor actual maintenance costs against approved budgets, forecasts, and historical performance.
• Controlling and analyzing spare-parts purchasing and consumption costs.
• Monitoring maintenance costs by plant, equipment, cost center, and work order.
• Track maintenance expenditure by equipment, plant area, cost center, work order, and maintenance type.
• Monitor preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance costs.
• Analyze maintenance labor, spare parts, consumables, external services, and contractor costs.
• Identify significant cost deviations and investigate root causes.
• Prepare monthly maintenance cost reports and management dashboards.
• Monitor maintenance cost per machine, production line, or asset where applicable.

2. Spare Parts Cost Control

• Monitor spare-parts purchases, issues, consumption, transfers, returns, and adjustments.
• Analyze spare-parts consumption by equipment, maintenance department, and work order.
• Monitor high-value and critical spare parts.
• Analyze slow-moving, obsolete, excess, and non-moving spare parts.
• Monitor inventory carrying costs and recommend appropriate inventory levels.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting

• Monitor budget utilization and identify potential overruns.
• Update forecasts based on changes in production plans, equipment condition, shutdown schedules, and maintenance requirements.
• Provide management with early warnings regarding expected budget deviations.

4. Spare Parts Procurement Cost Control

• Coordinate with Procurement to monitor spare-parts purchasing costs.
• Monitor emergency purchases and identify opportunities to reduce urgent procurement costs.
• Analyze local versus imported spare-parts costs, including freight and other associated costs.
• Monitor repairable spare parts and external repair/service costs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5-7 years of experience in maintenance cost , manufacturing or spare parts/inventory control.
• Experience in a mechanical manufacturing, industrial, heavy-equipment, or engineering environment is preferred.
• Good understanding of maintenance activities, spare-parts management, and inventory control.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of maintenance cost control and manufacturing cost.
• Good understanding of mechanical spare parts and MRO inventory.
• Ability to analyze equipment structures, spare-parts lists, and maintenance histories.
