Job Summary
Euro Group Engineering Consultancy is seeking a Natural Resources Consultant to provide environmental and ecological advisory services for coastal remediation and environmental monitoring projects. The consultant will lead field monitoring of natural resources, analyze environmental data, prepare technical reports, and support development of sustainability and conservation measures for project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct and lead field surveys and ecological monitoring (flora, fauna, intertidal and nearshore habitats).
- Perform environmental assessments and site-specific rapid ecological assessments.
- Design sampling programs, oversee sample collection (soil, sediment, biota, water), ensure chain‑of‑custody and QA/QC.
- Analyze environmental and biological data, interpret results and prepare technical memoranda and final reports.
- Advise on habitat protection, restoration and conservation measures; contribute to Best Management Practices and HSSE controls.
- Support remedial design by providing ecological input (sensitive area mapping, no‑go zones, planting/propagation recommendations).
- Liaise with clients, regulators and laboratories; coordinate subconsultants and field teams.
- Contribute to workshops, stakeholder briefings and project deliverables (GIS layers, maps, photographs).
- Maintain up‑to‑date records, standard operating procedures and health, safety and environmental compliance during field operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology or related discipline. Postgraduate degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in environmental projects and field monitoring of natural resources.
- Demonstrable experience in coastal/intertidal ecology, habitat assessment, or wildlife monitoring preferred.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Strong experience with ecological survey techniques (transects, quadrats, benthic cores, rapid ecological assessments).
- Knowledge of environmental chemistry indicators (TPH/PAH awareness) and interpretation of laboratory results.
- Competence in environmental data analysis and report writing.
- Familiarity with GIS mapping and spatial data management.
- Understanding of environmental legislation, permitting and conservation best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with statistical or survey data tools is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal); Arabic proficiency advantageous.
