Description
Tuwaiq Casting & Forging is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced QC Engineer to join the Quality Control Division. Reporting to the QC Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring that all casting and forging products meet internal quality standards and customer specifications through the implementation and maintenance of effective quality control processes. The QC Engineer plays a critical role in minimising defects, improving production efficiency, and ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards and certifications.
Quality Inspection & Control
- Conduct inspections of castings and forgings in accordance with quality procedures and engineering drawings
- Drive the QC process across the casting shop in line with organisational procedures and expectations
- Control non-conforming products within the plant in accordance with the NCR procedure, including internal NCR management
- Prepare casting Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and product inspection plans for both internal and external requirements to ensure product quality
- Perform quality inspections on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products
- Record inspection results and analyse quality data to identify trends and issues
- Manage day-to-day inspection activities on the casting shop floor
- Liaise with third-party inspection agencies for inspections and related activities
- Ensure final product clearance in accordance with quality requirements.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate with the team on root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions
- Provide quality feedback to support the improvement of production processes.
Quality System Management
- Maintain and improve quality management systems including ISO 9001 and API Q1
- Manage customer and third-party audits in coordination with the QA function.
Inspection Equipment Management
- Manage calibration and maintenance of all inspection equipment
- Operate equipment to ensure measurement accuracy.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the casting or forging industry
- Experience with API Q1, API 20A, and API 20B standards is essential.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in using inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, CMM, and ultrasonic testers
- Familiarity with quality inspection methods including visual inspection and NDE
- Understanding of metallurgical properties and heat treatment processes
- Exposure to ASTM, EN, API Q1, API 20A, and API 20B standards related to the casting and forging industry.
Certifications
- NDE certification to ASNT or ISO 9712 Level II
- QMS Internal Auditor certification.
