Description
Tuwaiq Casting & Forging is seeking an experienced and operationally focused Packing Specialist to join the Production Control Department. Reporting to the Production Control Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing all packing operations of finished customer products at the Tuwaiq Casting & Forging facility, ensuring finished goods are efficiently and accurately packed, labeled, and prepared for shipment in accordance with company standards and customer requirements. The role is also accountable for maintaining a safe, organized, and productive packing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Workflow Management
- Create work instructions for packing personnel
- Plan and schedule packing operations to meet production deadlines and shipping schedules
- Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to optimise packing efficiency
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and maintain consistent packing output.
Quality Control & Accuracy
- Establish and maintain quality standards for packing processes and materials
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure proper packaging, labelling, and handling of finished goods
- Ensure packing accuracy to prevent errors in order fulfilment
- Monitor compliance with company and customer packaging requirements.
Personnel Management
- Supervise, train, and motivate packing shop personnel including packers, material handlers, and other staff
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for employee development
- Manage employee schedules, time off, and ensure adequate staffing levels.
Material Management & Inventory
- Monitor and manage inventory of packing materials including boxes, tape, labels, and protective packaging
- Place orders for packing materials as needed, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely delivery
- Track material usage, minimize waste, and ensure proper storage and handling of packing materials.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and procedures within the packing shop
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions to address potential hazards
- Provide safety training for all personnel in the department.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety
- Evaluate new packing technologies and equipment for potential adoption
- Stay current with industry best practices in packaging and shipping.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with other departments including production, shipping, and customer service
- Provide regular updates on packing shop performance to the management team.
Documentation & Reporting
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of packing activities and material usage
- Generate regular reports on packaging metrics and performance.
Cost Control
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs associated with packing materials and processes
- Monitor departmental expenditures and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a packing or warehouse environment, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role
- Experience in packing within the heavy metals industry is mandatory.
